Do it All Night Long Baby!

After 11 years of hard rocking, plenty of tattoos and hot chicks, Buckcherry are still living the life doing what they do best. Currently on the road, touring round the UK and United States to promote their 5th studio album entitled All Night Long, the band are out and ready to get the party started!

It's been quite an intense journey - as singer Josh Todd and lead guitarist Keith Nelson have shared with society on many occasions. Since the early days back when the band was originally named Sparrow the sheer love and admiration for the music is what has kept them together giving them the motivation to move forward and establish a growing bond between each other and society.

Emotions, ego, youth, they have all played a detrimental part in their development as musicians and songwriters which has proven to society that it's not about trying to be like someone else, it's about remembering who you are and staying true to yourself, as well as the music. Their outlook and image goes without saying and because of this people in society still look up to these guys as open minded and fun loving hard rockers.

There are a number of bands/artists that have inspired Buckcherry, some as diverse as Prince and Billy Idol. Mainly drawing from rock 'n' roll, glam rock and punk rock bands like KISS, Aerosmith and Motley Crue, Buckcherry continue to develop their style and repertoire, producing sounds that are becoming instantly recognised by fans and music critics more so than any other band within the context of hard rock.

"We don't sound like anyone else...we sound like Buckcherry"
                                              Josh Todd

Bryan Stars from bryanstars.com asked Buckcherry a question during one of their tour bus interviews back in 2009 delibererately making it sound like it were being asked by someone who'd never even heard of the band before:

"Why would I want to go see Buckcherry if I've never even heard of you guys before?"

"To be inspired, to get your moneys worth and to have a great time"
                                          Josh Todd

That's the message given to everyone in society and if it isn't enough to make you want to go see them live...well then it should be!

The band have produced four studio albums in total:

Buckcherry (1999)
The first album was released shortly after the band played their first couple of gigs at a stripper bar in Southern California. With a little help from Hollywood record producer Bruce Boilette, the band were starting to create a positive buzz around the LA club scene. The title track "Lit Up" and "For The Movies" aired on the radio about a week later gaining massive public attention with the bands trashy, garage type sounds.

Time Bomb (2001)

"A sophomere effort form the Los Angeles hard rockers"

Produced by DreamWorks Records and published in the Top 20 music releases by Metacritic, the album failed to reach as many sales as their debut release though the riffs and vocal lines clearly gave people something to talk about with some dirty, full on attitude.

15 (2005)
Released in 2006, the album went double platinum and the song "Crazy Bitch" flew straight in to the Top 10 hits on The Daily Billboard Chart. The "Crazy Bitch" ringtone also went platinum through Buckcherry's website as a result of thousands of people rapidly downloading the file.

Black Butterfly (2008)
The 4th album to hit the LA music scene. Black Butterfly was sadly unanticipated by the general public however it scored the band their first Top 10 album debut coming in at No.8 on The Billboard Chart. It's nice to hear some calming, simplistic songs on the album like "Dreams" and "Rose". "Rescue Me" is everybody's favourite and who could forget "To Drunk To F**K!" The gatecrasher song about Josh recovering from alcoholism.

Black Butterfly was also deemed "Album Of The Year" by Entertainment Weekly and "Best Rock Album" by Itunes.

Early 2010 the band went ahead and released their first live album (pictured above) which includes live tracks from each of their previous albums. The album was also listed as one of the best live albums in Issue 36 of Q Magazine.

Released on 03/08/10 and produced by Keith Nelson and Marti Frederiksen, All Night Long is the third album to be distributed by EMI and Eleven Seven Records.

The album debuted at No.10 on The Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and was recently voted No.1 rock debut album by the public.

Anty Radio are still broadcasting one or two songs from the album and with over 30,000 people currently signed up to Anty Radio this has helped gain a little bit of commercial awarness and public satisfaction.

A Little Bit About the Label:

Eleven Seven Records are a well known indie label that sometimes likes to distribute records in the same way a major record label might do. Stylistically it's a pretty sweet deal for Buckcherry not having to adere to what the radio or other labels might want. It's taken quite a bit of pressure of off them giving them the freedom and independence to write the songs in a way which works out best for the band - thus the relationship between them and the indie label has stayed strong and society gets an honest taste of whats happening...what you see is what you get!

"Rather than feel like we're being used, we're encouraged to make entertaining records and do what we do. That’s been the beauty of our relationships with the indie label".
                                               Keith Nelson

Taking a closer look at the cover of the new album, it's quite bright and lustful capturing the bands image in a bright and colorful way. The stage lights are a nice touch on the reflection off the eye giving people in society an idea of what it's like to see Buckcherry play live. The face of the young girl (who is also on the front cover of the first album) is again a reminder of some of the girls you tend to see jumping around infront of the stage at each show...it's hardly misleading to say the least when there's often twenty bra's and shirts on stage aftwerwards!

People's Views:

Despite the album being listed in the charts it has received the lowest star rating overall. Whilst every other album has achived 4.5 - 5 stars, All Night Long only received 3.5 stars. In relation to this marketing fact there's also been a number of mixed reviews judging whether the album is just as good or infact lacking the same amount of energy. One particularly Youtube user posted a comment saying:

"I think the album lacks a bit of flare and star quality and in a way it sounds like some of the tracks have been rushed".

Below is a table which was posted not long ago on Last FM's web page. Between August and October it turns out there were less people listenning fully to the tracks, instead they were only looking at them brifely.

I would personally agree that the album does lack a bit of a kick unlike the previous albums, still there isn't that much negative talk against it. Like most of Buckcherrys songs once you start listenning to them again and again you instantly become kind of hooked by them. Whether it's a vocal line, an edgy guitar riff or a solid drum beat layed down upfront there's always something there that gets you excited plus we already kind of know what this album is about. Even just the title track says it all:

"All Night long is basically what happens when Buckcherry comes to your town. We get on stage and host a party, thats what the song is about".
                                                Josh Todd

In a way the 'old school party vibe' kind of goes few and far between and we can deffinately feel a hint of this with Buckcherry's new album. However what people find makes it stand out more as such a sublime record is the thought and honesty that's been put into each song which in turn makes them sound meaningful and very realistic to society.

The lyrics in the song "Our World" were written to remember the poeple who had died and the poeple who had been injured as a result of the devastating BP explosion which happened in Mexico on April 10th, 2010. The song itself is a really powerful song that has been dedicated to society by the band showing just how much each one of them cares about the lives of others and the hard times we often find ourselves faced with.

Buying the Album:

The album comes as a single disc deluxe edition featuring eleven tracks and seven *bonus acoustic EP's*. You can buy it off websites like Amazon.co.uk, Play.com or BestBuy. The single track MP3's are available to download through Legalsounds plus you can listen to them for free on Spotify. There are no pointless freebies thrown in either which is good for fans in any situation because it means they get what they are paying for.

As a very special thank you to their fans, Josh Todd and Keith Nelson uploaded "All Night Long"  on the bands website which the public could download for free. Facebook and Twitter user can also download the song from Buckcherrys friend page. Funnily enough this resulted in both Facebook and Twitter crashing due to the ecstatic amount of requests.

Below is the official video for the title track which premiered on Yahoo! May 17th. Also see the band performing "All Night Long" on Jimmy Kimmel's Late Night Chat Show.

Society has been quite happy with the way the band is distributing their music. It hasn't really affected anyone in any way because the band are always tying to keep a strong profile (which they have done) always putting their fan base first and making sure everyone is just as eager to hear finished result as they are. Again this shows just how much their reputation has grown since the band first began. Their target audience hasn't changed either and it will always stay the same till the band eventually stop writing. The music is for everyone and people can't seem to get enough of Buckcherry.
